What Are You Noticing Today?

I’m noticing it’s already June 27th. 2026, might I add. It feels like the days are moving at an exponential rate—especially in summer, when I want to melt in the warm months for as long as possible.

The kids are home, and you might think the days would drag. When they were babies, they did feel long. The nights? Even longer.

But now they’re ten, eight, and five—five and three-quarters, as my youngest likes to remind anyone he meets—and things have gotten easier. Physically, at least.

Mentally, they keep me on my toes.

There are constant questions, negotiations, and sibling squabbles. I find myself negotiating on sweets ("what do I have to eat for gummies?") way more than I'd care to. But there is also so much more room now for fun. Swimming. Vacations. Movie theaters. Arcades. And when we’ve all had enough excitement, there’s room for downtime too.

I’ve been reminding myself to stop and notice it all these last couple of weeks.

To take a mental picture when all three kids are laughing at the same thing. To notice the way my daughter’s hair catches the sunlight at the pool. To listen a little more attentively when my boys tell me stories that seem to have no beginning, middle, or end.

Because before I know it, they’ll be grown.

Today, I’m noticing how quickly childhood passes—not in dramatic leaps, but in small, ordinary moments that I already know I'll miss down the road.

So I’m feeling a little nostalgic.

And I’m noticing how fast my children are growing up.

What are you noticing today?
